Why Not SUP Inflatable Paddle Boards –MSL technology

Drop stitch is the name given to the material inside an inflatable board. Thousands of tiny threads run throughout the inside of the board, between the top and bottom layers. As the board is inflated the threads pull tight and help to give it its shape. The small dimples on the surface of an inflatable SUP show were the threads run to. Linear Drop stich is used in many cheaper boards from budget brands, this cheap material cannot hold high pressure. You can tell a linear drop stitch by the linear dimples on the board’s surface.

The new MSL system inflatable SUP’s use a refined process to improve all aspects of board production.

The thread structure is coated in a layer of adhesive that has been specially formulated to create both a seal and a bonding layer.

A layer of high density structural PVC is then machine laminated to this adhesive layer under controlled conditions

This whole process is done at the raw material stage by carefully calibrated machinery developed for this process. The result is a consistent and high level of cosmetic finish that has all of the durability and strength properties of previous double layer construction.

And because this process is done at the raw material stage there are huge benefits from torsion stiffness as the material is put under tension when the board is inflated.

This produces the ultimate blend of performance, quality and weight.

WHAT ARE THE OBVIOUS BENEFITS?

  • Cosmetic finish – All boards have a smooth cosmetic finish. No wrinkles or dimples. The boards look cleaner and smoother and even feel better to the touch.
  • Lighter – All boards are up to 2kgs lighter than previous double layer construction boards. But very importantly they are not too light. If a board is ultra light it is more affected by wind and current while on the water. MSL boards have a reassuring lightweight feel.
  • Stiffer at lower pressures – Due to the Torsion Stiffness effect all boards are stiffer at lower pressures compared to other products on the market. We recommend a pressure of between 16-22psi. Less pumping more paddling.
